Erath County Genealogical Society

The Dublin Public Library has received a $20,750 grant from the Tocker Foundation to digitize our local newspapers and have them available online through UNT''s Portals of Texas History.

This grant project will begin in June 2014, and UNT will take the microfilm for several months.  The entire project has a year timeline.

Therefore, if you need to research using the microfilm it would be best accomplished in May.

 Local and Genealogical Websites

The Erath County Genealogical Society serves as a forum for researchers tracing families in Erath and surrounding counties. Membership dues and donations are used for acquisitions in the society's collection, which is housed at the Dublin Public Library.

Membership dues are $15.00 per year. Members receive a subscription to the Society's journal, The Erath County Genealogical Society Journal.  Members residing within Erath County may borrow books from the society's circulating collection.

Click here for the membership form.

The Erath County Genealogical Society meets on a quarterly basis at the Dublin Public Library. Contact the secretary for additional information. If meetings are changed, members will be informed with e-mails along with postings on this website.

Meetings are usually the third Saturdays of January, April, July, and October. The 2015 meeting dates are scheduled :  January 31, April 18, July 18, October 17

Volunteers do look-ups for local obituaries, cemetery records and marriage records. The library also has many local family genealogy records. The fee is $10.00 minimum  per look-up.

We have Dublin newspapers on microfilm from 1888 to present (some years are incomplete).

Janella Hendon will assist with genealogy help by appointment.

For more information call 254-445-4141.

Volunteers are needed to aid patrons with research. If you would like to volunteer on a weekly basis , please call the library. A benefit of volunteering as a genealogy researcher is you are able to work on your own family research.

The Library does not have birth or death certificates.  For this information contact the Erath County Clerk at 100 W. Washington, Stephenville, TX 76401 or phone 254-965-1482.

Researchers are encouraged to submit abstracted data, ancestor charts, family group sheets, and biographical sketches for the society's files and/or publication in The Erath County Genealogical Society Journal.  Donations of books, microfilm, etc. are greatly appreciated.
